A new image from Ash vs Evil Dead season 3 reveals a drunken wedding from Ash’s past, an event tied to the arrival of his long-lost daughter. While hardcore fans of the Evil Dead franchise might like to think they know all there is to know about braggadocios demon-slayer Ash Williams, there are still new stones left to be turned over regarding his crazy life.
This makes sense too, as Ash vs Evil Dead has spent very little time looking at what Ash was up to in the decades between his heroic battles with Deadites in the movies and him heading back into the fight in 2015. While the premiere episode of Ash vs Evil Dead finds the character as a sort of sad sack that can’t stop yearning to return to his past as a conquering hero, one presumes that a good amount of time elapsed between Ash feeling triumphant after his Deadite wars and his descent into depression and alcoholism.

It’s been known for some time now that Ash vs Evil Dead season 3 would introduce Ash’s daughter Brandy Barr (Arielle Carver-O’Neill). Her existence comes as just as much of a shock to Ash as it does to the audience, as he was never told about her birth. As the photo below reveals though, Ash was once married to Brandy’s mother Candy (Katrina Hobbs). Yes, Ash married a woman named Candy Barr, and wow does that make a lot of sense.
Due to the gaudy look of the ceremony, one assumes the venue is a Las Vegas-style all night wedding chapel. Based on the giant liquor bottle in Candy’s hand and the drunken look on Ash’s face, it also seems likely that not much advance thought was put into this particular union. One thing that’s unclear is whether or not Ash knew Candy was pregnant when they decided to get hitched, making it a “shotgun wedding.” Or in Ash’s case, “boomstick wedding.”
While Ash is surprised to learn of Brandy’s existence, that doesn’t mean Candy couldn’t have been pregnant when they got married. Perhaps she had regrets about marrying Ash, and decided to leave him without explanation. She could have either completely disappeared and never saw him again, or maybe lied to Ash about having a miscarriage or having gotten an abortion. Whatever happened, fans will get an explanation next month, when Ash vs Evil Dead season 3 finally debuts.
