Descriptions of Avengers: Infinity War‘s LEGO sets have potentially revealed several new details about the film, including how the epic showdown between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Mad Titan Thanos will end.
Plot details for the epic start of the MCU finale are light, with the teaser trailer offering clues to the narrative but leaving a lot up in the air. With the film out in a little over five months, however, we can expect a lot more to come to light, especially once Black Panther – which introduces Wakanda, one of Infinity War‘s key locations – arrives in February. Before that, though, we already have some seriously big possible spoilers from tie-in LEGO sets.

We’ve already got minifigure descriptions before that allowed many to conclude Bruce Banner, not Tony Stark, is in the Hulkbuster Iron Man armor, and just earlier today images of the minifigures from “The Search for Thor’s Weapon” gave a fresh look at his Mjolnir replacement. However, the rest is new and reveals a lot of details. There’s the suggestion that Black Panther will appear in the Edinburgh sequence to try and save Vision from having the Soul Stone removed from his forehead, and signs of how the Children of Thanos will factor into the film’s various set pieces. Also interesting is the suggestion that the last Infinity Stone could come from the Thor plot thread, rather than the previously-assumed Wakanda (although it’s also possible this is the Reality Stone, last seen in the Collector’s museum).
But the most important set is “Thanos: The Last Battle”, a space-set final confrontation between the big bad and the assembled heroes. The description seems to suggest that Iron Man attacks the Titan, a character takes the Glove of Infinity (possibly hinting at a name change of the golden mitt from the comic’s Infinity Gauntlet) and the heroes win. That’s hardly a shocking turn – the Avengers emerge victorious in an Avengers film – but it would challenge the expectation by some that the film will end with a cliffhanger with Thanos in control or perhaps even clicking his fingers a la Infinity Gauntlet ahead of a more out-there Avengers 4. That said, a hero swiping the gauntlet would be still taking some inspiration from the comics – in the original arc Nebula wound up taking control of the gems.
It’s very important to note that Lego sets are of dubious plot accuracy; they’re based on early plot notes and are obviously focused on playability so tend to present skewed events, and in some cases are purposely misleading (see Iron Man 3‘s “Ultimate Showdown”, which had Tony Stark fighting the Mandarin). Indeed, it would be strange to expect anything different from the set, and it would be even more shocking for Infinity War to wrap up so neatly considering its direct follow-up is coming a year later. Still, for the description to say something so overt is definitely interesting and will have all eyes on the set when it’s revealed properly next year.
