adming February 14, 2018 Views 89

Jordan Peele and Universal Pictures are offering fans free tickets to special Presidents’ Day screenings of Academy Award nominated film Get Out. Peele’s 2017 directorial debut is gaining Oscar buzz right before the awards show set to air March 4 on ABC, and fans of the horror/comedy are going to get a chance to see the film in theaters again thanks to the new promotion.

The horror film stars Daniel Kaluuya as Chris Washington, a photographer who reluctantly agrees to meet the family of his white girlfriend, Rose Armitage, played by Allison Williams. While at the family’s countryside estate, Chris witnesses strange behavior from the estate’s workers – housekeeper Georgina and groundskeeper Walter – and begins to realize he’s in terrible danger as he uncovers the truth about what the Armitages have planned for him. The film has received critical acclaim from audiences and critics alike for Peele’s take on modern day racism in America.

Audiences will get a chance to experience Get Out on the big screen at 55 AMC theatres nationwide. Each guest who requests a ticket the day of the screening—at a participating location—will be given one free admission to the 7:00 p.m. showing on February 19, up to theater capacity on a first-come, first-serve basis and may only be picked up at the AMC box office that day. “When Jordan approached us about a way to thank fans one year after the release of Get Out, we thought a Presidents’ Day screening during Black History Month would be a wonderful way to commemorate the film’s impact. The success of his stunning vision would not have been possible without the audience’s passion for both Get Out’s groundbreaking storytelling and its deft use of art as society’s mirror.”

It’s not surprising that Get Out is getting a re-release in theaters. The film is still massively popular with fans thanks to the longevity of Peele’s masterpiece and its ability to live beyond the big screen. After Get Out was released, artists from all over the world were inspired to create their own interpretations of the imagery and ideas in the movie. They joined the conversation and one year later it continues with #GetOutOneYearLater and check out the art at www.NowYoureInTheSunkenPlace.com.

There are also rumors that Peele is seriously considering making a sequel to Get Out so, on top of his new TV series Lovecraft Country on HBO, there’s a chance fans will be seeing more of Chris’ story after his fateful weekend at the Armitage residence.
