A brand new Supergirl character poster featuring Mon-El gives us a closer look at his Legion of Super-Heroes fight suit.
From the previously released teaser for the midseason premiere of Supergirl‘s third year, we know that the Legion of Super-Heroes will be taking over while Kara recuperates from her injuries after her intense battle with Reign in the series’ midseason finale. But even before that, fans already had an inkling that at some point, the show will showcase the group suiting up in the 21st century one way or another. Now, we’re just days away from seeing that promise come to fruition as The CW series gears up to roll out new episodes in two weeks.

Supergirl‘s official Twitter account rings in the new year with a character poster focusing on Mon-El all suited up as part of the Legion of Super-Heroes in the midseason premiere episode, appropriately titled ‘Legion of Super-Heroes’. The extended Supergirl midseason premiere trailer previously offered us a split-second glimpse of the group’s suits (plus Brainiac), but the image offers a closer look at the ensemble. While the show picks up with the Girl of Steel still unconscious after her bout with Reign, and Mon-El alongside his cohorts from the future suiting up to fight the big bad, we don’t have to wait long before we see Kara back up once again. The synopsis for the following episode after the winter premiere, ‘Fort Rozz’, teases Kara joining some unlikely allies to bring down the powerful antagonist once and for all.
SUPERGIRL TEAMS UP WITH SATURN GIRL, LIVEWIRE AND PSI – As Reign (Odette Annable) continues to terrorize the city, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) teams up with Saturn Girl (guest star Amy Jackson), and the two recruit Supergirl’s former enemies, Livewire (guest star Brit Morgan) and Psi (guest star Yael Grobglas), to form a team for a mission to Fort Rozz to recover a prisoner who has information on how to defeat Reign once and for all. Meanwhile, Alex (Chyler Leigh) babysits Ruby (guest star Emma Tremblay). Gregory Smith directed the episode written by Gabriel Llanas & Anna Musky-Goldwyn (#311). Original airdate 1/22/18.
It goes to show how formidable Reign is as an antagonist that her appearance forces Supergirl to team up with this specific group since she doesn’t have a good rapport with them. Livewire and Psi are former adversaries while Saturn Girl isn’t exactly someone Kara would want to hang out with given the situation with Mon-El. But as the devoted hero she is, Supergirl sets aside her personal feelings as chances are whatever drives them together is more important and that is to contain Reign once and for all to keep National City safe.
