Comic legend Stan Lee joined in on the Marvel Studios anniversary celebrations with a post celebrating their tenth year – and poking a little fun at them at the same time. This year marks a decade since the Marvel Cinematic Universe first launched with Iron Man, and Marvel Studios is not hesitating to make a big deal out of this particularly huge milestone. A special new Ten Year logo was unveiled at the 2017 D23 expo, and of course, Marvel is selling 10-year MCU merchandise in honor of the event.
In addition, Marvel Studios released a class photo, bringing together many of the huge names that have graced the MCU over the past decade into one single, incredibly star-studded image. The get-together and resulting image is sure to be only the start of the Marvel Studios celebrations, though, as things really get rolling ahead of the 10th anniversary of Iron Man‘s release day in May of this year. Now, even Stan Lee is joining in the fun with a special message to Marvel Studios.

Stan Lee took to Instagram to share his congratulations, reposting the official class photo with the caption: “Congratulations @marvelstudios on your 10 year anniversary! I’ve been in the business for 77 years – only 67 more to go and you’ll catch up to me!”
Lee has a long history with Marvel Comics, of course, and is the creator of many of their most famous characters, including Iron Man, Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Doctor Strange, and many, many more. Lee has also appeared in every Marvel Studios movie to date (plus, many of Marvel TV’s shows in the MCU) in fun cameos that fans love to keep their eyes peeled for. Further, Lee has appeared in several movies featuring his characters that are not part of the MCU, including many of Fox’s X-Men installments as well as Sony’s various Spider-Man films.
Given the great relationship that Lee has with Marvel and the MCU, it’s no surprise he’d make a point of congratulating them on their latest milestone. Plus, considering his characters are the backbone of the MCU, it’s no surprise Lee appears in the photo just behind Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. Fans are looking forward to seeing how Lee appears in the upcoming MCU movies this year as well, which include Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Ant-Man and the Wasp. And as for that little jab at the MCU for being nowhere near as well-established as Lee himself? Well that’s just Stan-The-Man’s style, and we love him for it!
